Avon Education: Loving Literacy - Keep a note in you calendar!

October is : Loving literacy

Welcome to our insight on the courses for October! At Avon Education, we are ‘loving literacy’ and giving you the opportunity to share with us, some great insights into how we get young learners developing their creativity and love of language through ‘Story Sacks’ with Yvonne Dalorto and using Jolly Phonics readers with Sara Wernham (author of Jolly Phonics) will be giving tips and strategies on how to use reading books to support literacy extension ideas.

These session are mainly for Kindergarten, Young Learners, Special Educational Needs,

English as a Second Language (E.S.L) and early Primary classes (Years 1-3).

Reading skills are an ‘ongoing’ process for children as the connection they make with grammar is ‘falling into place’. The sessions will start with practical ideas to build up children’s visual techniques and build on the infrastructures already

in place from synthetic phonics and literacy classes. Diego Zaffaroni (International Trainer and Educational Consultant) and Yvonne Dalorto will be talking about the ‘reading compass’ and English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) reading materials.

These session are mainly for Kindergarten, Young Learners, Special Educational Needs, English as a Second Language (E.S.L) and early (years 1-3) to upper Primary classes (4-6).

Creativity does not happen immediately with children! The interactions they have, stories, their experiences and play all support the ‘creative writing path’ and Creative Cognition. During the first sessions, we will explore how children make connections to the language they use and strategies for understanding the dynamics of writing, which is a life skill! Getting the ‘scaffolding’ in place means children have a secure foundation to move onto.

These session are mainly for Kindergarten, Young Learners, Special Educational Needs, English as a Second Language (E.S.L) and early Primary (Years 1- 3)

And, we shall be doing that with a young vibrant author and teacher Varun Gwalani, who will be navigating you through the challenges children face as they move up in Primary and a more diverse approach is required to writing.

These session are mainly, English as a Second Language (E.S.L) and upper Primary classes (4-6)

Join us for our Avon Education literacy month to experience the new approaches, methods and insights into the way children interact with language, creativity and expression. These life skills are transposable and what we learn in one language can be used in another….maybe not the words, but the foundations, organisation skills, collaborative learning/sharing, using resources and self-expression.
